Dr. Mireille Gonzalez is a social and behavioral scientist and collaborative conservation practitioner whose work focuses on peacebuilding, conflict resolution, and human behavior change to enhance coexistence with wildlife. As Co-Director of the Center for Human-Carnivore Coexistence at Colorado State University, she works collaboratively with local communities, agencies, and stakeholders to depolarize environmental conflict and advance coexistence outcomes. An expert facilitator, she designs stakeholder engagement processes, public outreach, and environmental education programs that translate science into action. Drawing on social psychology and behavioral science, she investigates the psychological drivers of intergroup conflict and designs evidence-based behavior change interventions. Her global work spans wolves, wolverines, pumas, jaguars, maned wolves, and hoary foxes in the Americas; leopards in India; lemurs in Madagascar; and sharks in the Caribbean. She holds a PhD in Human Dimensions of Natural Resources from Colorado State University.
