Programme Officer
Mariam holds an MPhil in Conservation Leadership from the University of Cambridge and is an Engineer in Sustainable Development. She has an interdisciplinary background and substantial experience with international project management, capacity building, and working across sectors. She also has hands-on experience with HWC, having worked extensively with wild cats and communities in Mexico. Currently, she serves as the Programme Officer for the IUCN SSC Human-Wildlife Conflict & Coexistence Specialist Group, where her role focuses on training development and specialist group network development. Additionally, she collaborates with the Small Wild Cat Conservation Foundation, facilitating conservation projects by coordinating the Ocelot Working Group to mitigate threats to ocelots, margays, and jaguarundis across their range. Her career combines human dimensions and sustainable development through community-focused conservation approaches.
