Dr Ameyali Ramos

Deputy Chair, IUCN Commission on Environment, Economic and Social Policy

Ameyali Ramos is the Deputy Chair of the IUCN Commission on Environment, Economic and Social Policy. Ameyali has been working with indigenous and local communities since 2002 on issues related to governance, conservation, safeguards, livelihoods and rights. She has worked to strengthen the collective capacity of indigenous peoples in global environmental processes like the CBD, UNFCCC, IPBES and IPCC. Ameyali is currently leading on work related to environmental defenders, sustainable production, and nature/culture.

She studied at the University of British Columbia and has a doctorate from the University of Oxford.
