Dr Brian McQuinn, is a Global Affairs Advisor for the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and a Research Associate at the Centre for Conflict, Development and Peacebuilding in Geneva, Switzerland. Brian has worked in conflict-affected communities for two decades, specializing in conflict analysis and resolution processes. Brian’s interest in understanding and addressing human-wildlife conflicts began in 2001 with a Jane Goodall study examining how conservationists could apply the theory and practice developed for deep-rooted conflict. He received a doctorate in 2015 from the University of Oxford based on seven months of fieldwork in Libya during the 2011 uprising. Brian has published with Oxford University Press and in various journals, including the Journal for Conflict Resolution and PS:Political Science and Politics. His research has appeared in a range of media including The Guardian, Financial Times and Nature; he has also served as a commentator on BBC World Service.
