Gnaneswar is an Indian conservationist with a background in wildlife sciences and a strong affinity for reptiles, particularly snakes. With nearly a decade of experience across education, policy, and research, he currently leads the Snake Conservation & Snakebite Mitigation Project at the Madras Crocodile Bank Trust. His work encompasses community sensitisation, capacity building, policy engagement, stakeholder engagement and multi-sectoral coordination. He actively advocates for the integration of snakebite prevention into public health systems and contributes to national and international platforms, including initiatives of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, State Governments and the IUCN Human-Snake Conflict Task Force. He is currently pursuing a PhD at the University of Reading, focusing on snakebite mitigation, and has a keen interest in photography and drone-based filmmaking, with work featured in magazines and news outlets.
