I have been working on wildlife conservation (i.e. elephants, tigers, turtles and freshwater issues) for more than two decades. I am currently an Associate Professor at the University of Nottingham Malaysia and the Principal Investigator of an elephant-centric research project, Management & Ecology of Malaysian Elephants (MEME). We have been studying Asian elephants from 2012 until now. In 2021, we expanded our human-elephant conflict and coexistence research into field engagement with oil palm plantation companies in Peninsular Malaysia. We studied elephant behaviour and movement, landscape connectivity, and utilise psychology and social sciences approaches. Additionally, we explore the usage of games, safety protocols, posters, story-telling and online modules to reach out to our audiences. Besides being a member of the HWCCSG, I am currently the Deputy Chair of the IUCN SSC Asian Elephant Specialist Group (AsESG), a member of IUCN Asian Elephant Transport Working Group (AsETWG) and the Elephant Conservation Group.
