Brian McQuinn

Canada

Dr. Brian McQuinn is a peacebuilder, humanitarian, and scholar with more than two decades of experience working and conducting research in over thirty conflict-affected countries, including Rwanda, Nepal, and South Sudan. He completed his doctorate at the University of Oxford, based on nine months of fieldwork in Libya, where he lived with insurgents fighting to overthrow the regime. Brian has advised international organizations, governments, and civil society networks, including the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross. His current research examines how extremist networks and authoritarian states exploit digital platforms and emerging technologies to weaken democracies and erode trust in social institutions. He is also a frequent contributor to public discussions on national security and artificial intelligence. The Centre’s research has been featured in The New York Times, The Guardian, and The Globe and Mail.
