Aleksandër Trajçe is the Executive Director of Protection and Preservation of Natural Environment in Albania (PPNEA), Albania’s oldest and largest nature conservation organisation. His relationship with PPNEA spans more than two decades, beginning as a volunteer and project assistant and gradually growing into leadership, becoming the director since January 2018.
Aleksandër holds an MSc in Biodiversity, Conservation and Management from the University of Oxford and a PhD in Environmental Anthropology from the University of Roehampton. His work sits at the intersection of ecology and culture, with a long-standing focus on large carnivore conservation and human-wildlife coexistence. He is an active member of several IUCN SSC specialist groups and has published widely in international journals. Alongside conservation practice, Aleksandër has taught and collaborated with universities in Albania and abroad. His work is guided by a simple conviction: conservation succeeds best when it is both scientifically sound and deeply human.
