Prof Camilla Sandström

Camilla Sandström is professor in political science, Umeå University, Sweden. She is also affiliated to the department of Wildlife, Fish and Environmental Studies at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Umeå. Her research focuses on the governance and management of natural resources, in particular human-wildlife conflicts and how societies try to govern these conflicts through policy and norm development at multiple levels, and by developing collaborative governance approaches and conflict mitigating policy instruments. Her work is primarily inter- and transdisciplinary, with a strong focus on Arctic environments, however she has also studied human-wildlife conflicts in several countries in Europe and Africa. She was a Coordinating Lead Author for the IPBES regional assessment of Europe and central Asia leading on promising options for governance and decision-making across scales and sectors.
