PhD in Wildlife Conservation (University of Oxford, UK), MS in Ecology, Evolution and Systematics (University of Missouri-Saint Louis, USA) and BS in Biology (University of Sao Paulo, Brazil). Currently a postdoctoral fellow at the Laboratory of Wildlife Ecology, Management and Conservation of the University of Sao Paulo, ahead of the People & Wildlife Coexistence Project. Executive Coordinator of the National Action Plan for the Conservation of Big Cats for his native country, Brazil, member of the IUCN SSC Conservation Breeding Specialist Group and Jaguar Alliance, and Associate Editor for Human Dimensions of Wildlife, he is the founder of Escola da AmazĂ´nia, project that earned him a Whitley Award. Silvio has taught human dimensions of wildlife conservation to students and wildlife professionals in Brazil, United Kingdom, Costa Rica, Colombia and Bolivia.
